 The brief descriptions below are designed to familiarize you with our staff's training, professional credentials and work experience.

Michael Huguet, DDS

Michael Huguet, DDS Dentist in Pleasant Hill, CA

Dr. Michael Huguet, a native of the Pleasant Hill area, has been practicing dentistry since 1991. He graduated with honors from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and went on to receive his dental training from the University of California, San Francisco. In addition, Dr. Huguet received advanced dental training at the Veteran Administration Hospitals in Martinez and Sacramento, California. He is also a local member of the Diablo Study Club, a club dedicated to advancing the knowledge of implants, and quality comprehensive patient care.

Dr. Huguet enjoys all aspects of general and cosmetic dentistry, and enjoys providing quality care to patients of all ages. He is also an active member of the following organizations:

Dr. Huguet resides in Lafayette with his wife Kristán and their three children, Makenzie, Matthew and Lindsey. During his free time, he enjoys traveling with his family, skiing, lacrosse, and fly fishing.


Tran Hoang, DDS

Specialist in Prosthodontics

Dr. Tran Hoang graduated Phi Betta Kappa and Cum Laude from UC Irvine where she majored in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and minored on Women's Studies.  She then attended  UCLA School of Dentistry where she graduated with numerous honors, including the coveted Pacific Coast Society for Prothodontics and the Section Award  in Pediatric Dentistry.  After dental school, Dr. Hoang completed a three year residency program in Advanced Prosthodontics at UCLA.  As a prosthodontist, Dr. Hoang specializes in difficult dental problems and restorations including crowns and bridges, partials and dentures, and implant dentistry. 

Dr. Hoang recognizes the importance of community, giving and education.  During dental school, she served as a UCLA-USC Mobile Clinic coordinator, a program which brought dental care to underserved areas.  She also went abroad to Honduras and Fiji as part of dental outreach teams.  Currently, Dr. Hoang works with Kerry's Kids, a non-profit organization which provides free mobile health care to homeless children at shelters throughout the East Bay.  Dr. Hoang is also an assistant clinical professor at UCSF where she teaches both general dentistry and removable prosthodontics.

Dr. Hoang's professional goal is to practice dentistry of the highest quality in that it speaks to the functions of the teeth, namely of mastication, swallowing, speech and esthetics.

Dr. Hoang lives in Walnut Creek with her husband Adam, son Tyler, daughter Lucy and family dog, Buster.  She enjoys hiking, reading and trying new resturants in the Bay Area.

Cindy Tottle, DDS

Dr. Cindy Tottle is a native of Santa Barbara, California, but has called the Bay Area, and more specifically, Martinez, home since 1991. She graduated from The University of the Pacific with a degree in Biology, and graduated with honors from U.C.L.A. School of Dentistry in 1991. She furthered her dental training at the Veterans Administration Hospitals in Martinez and Sacramento, where she was a co-resident with Dr. Huguet.

Dr. Tottle enjoys all aspects of general, family, and cosmetic dentistry, and excels in treating those patients who have been less comfortable with previous dental treatment. Dr. Tottle is also passionate about nutrition, fitness, and the total health of her patients.

Dr. Tottle is an active member in the following organizations:

Dr. Tottle lives in Martinez with her husband Tim, her son Ian, and her three rescue dogs, Morris, Ben, and Ricky.  Her daughter Katherine is an emergency room nurse in New Orleans, Louisiana. 


When Dr. Tottle is out of the office, she enjoys the outdoors, running, hiking, fitness, cooking, and travel.


Adam Shaffer, DDS, MS

Specialist in Pediatrics

Diplomate, American Board of Pediatric DentistryDentist in Pleasant Hill, CA

Dr. Shaffer is a board certified pediatric dentist.  He earned his undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley and his Doctor of Dental Surgery from UCLA.  He then obtained a Master of Science degree in Oral and Craniofacial Biology from UCSF while concurrently completing advanced specialty training in pediatric dentistry at UCSF and at Children's Hospital Oakland. 

Dr. Shaffer continues to stay involved in academia and is a former assistant clinical professor at UCSF in the department of pediatric dentistry.  He has lectured on topics ranging from oral sedation safety protocols to emerging non-invasive ways of treating dental caries ("cavities").  He additionally spends time treating underserved patients abroad, and has traveled to both Honduras and Fiji for dental outreach trips.  He regularly takes continuing education courses on all phases of dentistry, as well as in pediatric dentistry consistent with keeping his status as a board certified pediatric dentist.

Dr. Shaffer is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry, the Western Society of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, The California Dental Association, and the Contra Costa Dental Society.

Born and raised in Alameda, California, Dr. Shaffer is proud to call the Bay Area his home. He enjoys running, cycling, snowboarding, and rooting for the Golden State Warriors and San Francisco Giants. He also enjoys going to the beach and spending time with his wife, two children, and dog, Buster.


Philip Vassilopoulos, DDS, DMD

Specialist in Periodontics and Implants

Dr. Philip Vassilopoulos received his first dental degree from the University of Athens in Greece and completed his Certificate in Periodontology at the University of  Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Vassilopoulos is a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and Fellow of the American and International College of Dentists. He joined the UAB faculty and served throughout his time there as a Clinic Director, Predoctoral Director and Postgraduate Director within the ranks of clinical instructor, clinical assistant professor, and clinical associate professor. He also went back to school at UAB to receive a second degree in Dentistry. The additional knowledge and training he has acquired has enabled him to communicate better and provide closer collaboration with his restorative colleagues. 

Dr. Vassilopoulos has been invited to give several presentations on national and international meetings and he has been the author of articles in periodontics and implant dentistry. He has been well respected as a teacher and mentor and he was the recipient of the American Academy of Periodontology Educator Award in 2007. Dr. Vassilopoulos has extended experience in the full scope of periodontics and implant dentistry. His interests are concentrated in providing the best treatment options to his patients based on solid evidence and innovative concepts. He is well known to the students and colleagues as a Master Clinician.

Dr. Vassilopoulos has always wanted to live on the west coast and has recently relocated to the East Bay area of California. His hobbies include following his favorite sports teams, listening to music and traveling. Philip enjoys spending time with his family; he is married and has one daughter.
