 The brief descriptions below are designed to familiarize you with our staff's training, professional credentials and work experience.

Michael Huguet, DDS

Michael Huguet, DDS Dentist in Pleasant Hill, CADr. Michael Huguet, a native of the Pleasant Hill area, has been practicing dentistry since 1991. He graduated with honors from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and went on to receive his dental training from the University of California, San Francisco. In addition, Dr. Huguet received advanced dental training at the Veteran Administration Hospitals in Martinez and Sacramento, California. He is also a local member of the Diablo Study Club, a club dedicated to advancing the knowledge of implants, and quality comprehensive patient care.

Dr. Huguet enjoys all aspects of general and cosmetic dentistry, and enjoys providing quality care to patients of all ages. He is also an active member of the following organizations:

Dr. Huguet resides in Lafayette with his wife Kristán and their three children, Makenzie, Matthew and Lindsey. During his free time, he enjoys traveling with his family, skiing, lacrosse, and fly fishing.

 

Mariangela Verano, DDS

Dentist in Pleasant Hill, CADr. Verano graduated from UCLA in 1991 where she majored in Psychobiology.  At UCLA, she was the Vice President of the Pre-Dental club and volunteered her time at the Venice Dental Clinic.

Dr Verano proceeded on to UCSF Dental School where she was actively involved in student government holding various positions including two years as a class treasurer.  She graduated from her dental school in 1995 and received an award acknowledging her Excellence in Denal Practice Administration.  She continued her education at UCSF by completing an Advanced Education in General Dentistry program in 1996.

Dr. Verano ha been practicing for over 18 years and has gained extensive dental knowledge and experience during her career.  She truly cares about each patient and strives to provide quality care with a gentle touch.  Her passion for dentistry is seen every day in her attention to detail and steadfast work ethic.

Dr. Verano is dedicated to her profession and attends many continuing education lectures to hone her skills and keep up with latest techniques in the dentistry industry.  She is a member of both the Partnership Study Club and the International Implant Study Club, both of which focus on learning, growth, and knowledge for success in one's dental practice.

Our new Cerec machine is not new to Dr. Verano as she has evolved with Cerec as it has improved over the years.  She has been making Cerec crowns, onlays and inlays for the last 11 years.

Dr. Verano feels blessed to be a part of such a wonderful dental practice working alongside a dedicated staff that truly cares about each and every patient.

Dr. Verano is also fluent in spanish.

Dr. Verano and her husband Derek reside in Walnut Creek with their three children, Christian, Catherine, and Conner.  Dr. Verano enjoys running, cooking, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.

 

Tran Hoang, DDS

Dentist in Pleasant Hill, CADr. Tran Hoang graduated Phi Betta Kappa and Cum Laude from UC Irvine where she majored in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and minored on Women's Studies.  She then attended  UCLA School of Dentistry where she graduated with numerous honors, including the coveted Pacific Coast Society for Prothodontics and the Section Award  in Pediatric Dentistry.  After dental school, Dr. Hoang completed a three year residency program in Advanced Prosthodontics at UCLA.  As a prosthodontist, Dr. Hoang specializes in difficult dental problems and restorations including crowns and bridges, partials and dentures, and implant dentistry. 

Dr. Hoang recognizes the importance of community, giving and education.  During dental school, she served as a UCLA-USC Mobile Clinic coordinator, a program which brought dental care to underserved areas.  She also went abroad to Honduras and Fiji as part of dental outreach teams.  Currently, Dr. Hoang works with Kerry's Kids, a non-profit organization which provides free mobile health care to homeless children at shelters throughout the East Bay.  Dr. Hoang is also an assistant clinical professor at UCSF where she teaches both general dentistry and removable prosthodontics.

Dr. Hoang's professional goal is to practice dentistry of the highest quality in that it speaks to the functions of the teeth, namely of mastication, swallowing, speech and esthetics.

Dr. Hoang lives in Walnut Creek with her husband Adam, son Tyler, daughter Lucy and family dog, Buster.  She enjoys hiking, reading and trying new resturants in the Bay Area.

 

Adam Shaffer, DDS, MS

Diplomate, American Board of Pediatric DentistryDentist in Pleasant Hill, CA 

Dr. Shaffer is a board certified pediatric dentist.  He earned his undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley and his Doctor of Dental Surgery from UCLA.  He then obtained a Master of Science degree in Oral and Craniofacial Biology from UCSF while concurrently completing advanced specialty training in pediatric dentistry at UCSF and at Children's Hospital Oakland. 

Dr. Shaffer continues to stay involved in academia and is a former assistant clinical professor at UCSF in the department of pediatric dentistry.  He has lectured on topics ranging from oral sedation safety protocols to emerging non-invasive ways of treating dental caries ("cavities").  He additionally spends time treating underserved patients abroad, and has traveled to both Honduras and Fiji for dental outreach trips.  He regularly takes continuing education courses on all phases of dentistry, as well as in pediatric dentistry consistent with keeping his status as a board certified pediatric dentist.

Dr. Shaffer is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry, the Western Society of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, The California Dental Association, and the Contra Costa Dental Society.

 

Born and raised in Alameda, California, Dr. Shaffer is proud to call the Bay Area his home.  He enjoys running, cycling, snowboarding, and rooting for the Golden State Warriors and San Francisco Giants.  He also enjoys going to the beach and spending time with his wife, two children, and dog, Buster.
